Time for change
Author: KB5WK

KCS 4854 east leads the LWY101 Sunday morning 01/16/2022 at Custer Rd in Plano TX along the former Cotton Belt.

These tracks are going to be pulled very soon and replaced with welded rail to make way for the DART Silverline trains that will run from Plano TX to DFW Airport sometime in 2023 or 2024.  There aleady behind schedule.  Dont see this thing going operational in 2022.

I appreciate your fine KCS images from north central Texas and the delight of clearly hearing the now rare sound of wheels from class one freight trains rolling over jointed rail  .

Will KCS still have trackage rights?

YES.  KCS only run 1 or 2 trains every other day. Traffic on the KCS Alliance sub has gone down a lot since fraccing sand business declined.

They run 2 locals and ocainally a cement sand train to Ash Grove in Ft Worth to the FWWR in Saginaw every 2 weeks.
