KCS Belle on Soldier Summit, Utah
Author: 2ebright

KCS 4765 was not the only KCS unit leading a train on the ex, D&RGW main line recently. On my recent tour of my old home grounds I was lucky to overtake this westbound Union Pacific coal train above Helper, Utah in the Price River Canyon. It was led by KCS 4578. I suspect that like the eastbound train in Colorado pictured twice below, led by KCS 4765, this one in Utah was loaded at the West Elk Mine south of Grand Junction. Catching this train made my day and the attached photo was taken at Soldier Summit.

Great catch and shot! Yep, that train did originate at the W. Elk Mine and was heading out to Long Beach, CA.
