It was a cloudy mild humid day in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub on the Northern Transcon. The high-low was 75-50 the warmest day this year so far, warmer tomorrow, then rain. Monday had thunderstorms with a good light show. With MoW working no trains in the morning, same for yesterday. Traffic is at 16 trains since midnight with more on the way. Here are some trains from Monday and today.

Additional traction is always cool at the end of your human web cam efforts Larry.  The short freight shot today is priceless!

#22 You are back at Yerba Buena and San Pablo in Emeryville on the other side of the Bank of America building in a previous post.  The photographer was near the tower to the right our of view.

Larry - X2200S #51 has that Pacific Electric 1654 as a Phase III GE 44-tonner, built 10/31/44, GE serial 18183.  Leased to SP (as T&NO #17) 11/1/58, sold 12/23/60 to W.T. Carter & Brothers Lumber Co., Camden TX, transferred to subsidiary Moscow, Camden & San Augustine Ry #17, sold via BR&L/Silcott 6/11/73 to Transco Service Inc. at Logansport IN (freight car rebuilder).  No data after that, but here she is as MC&SA #17: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/misc-m/mcsa17a07.jpg

No 20 is indeed in Long Beach. The Long Beach Federal Savings office was at 328 Long Beach Blvd and
the US Post Office was next door as the 'drive-up' mail boxes we see here show. LA Metro's Blue Line runs
here today.

No 21 shows one of the five GE 44-Ton diesels the PE bought in 1943-44. As it turned out the 1654 was the
very last piece of equipment to be lettered and numbered in the PE 'family'. As you noted, they were equipped
with trolley poles for crossing signal activation and throughout their time on PE rails could be seen throughout
the system. As to location--I haven't a clue except to note that PE often ran "Banana Extras" from dock side in
L.A. harbor to their facility at 8th St Yard, rushing the perishable fruit to market. Possibly the 1654 is doing the
honors on this occasion.

No 23 appears to be Cross Town Bus Lines terminal somewhere in their service area. I see "Greyhound" markings
on the building, maybe they shared maintenance facilities.

In the photo I see she still had the trolley pole mounting platform atop her cab as well as a
definite SP black & orange influence; see the safety slogan circle above the footboard.
Of course, 1966 was only 8 or so years after leaving SP.
Thanks for showing.

Still trying to piece together the details, but Tuesday night close to midnight a eastbound BNSF train that passed through Cheney had a broken wheel on a car that was slamming the rail and broke it. That delayed several trains including Amtrak #28 that was held out at Babb close to 3 hours. Amtrak #27 was also delayed around 30 minutes. I also saw that #7 Wednesday morning had a lot of trouble after leaving Wenatchee (17 minutes late). It was two and a half hours late at Leavenworth and arrive at Seattle nearly 4 hours late. Therefore tonight's #8 was two hours late leaving Seattle. Now I'm watching this westbound loaded grain train that just crawled into Cheney that is dealing with a dynamiter. The train was crawling into town to setout a bad order car (not sure if it's the dynamiter) and I looked out to see why the train was going so slow just in time to hear the air dump. They said the air has dumped three times since leaving Spokane...every time they have set air on the train.Working for a railroad is always an adventure!

Sounds like a bad night for some crews, where nothing goes right.

Great job with the clouds.  I think they add interest and drama.
Day was kind of light on EMD's but #9253 made it through.

TRACTION
Pacific Electric #1654 action scene is really a historic treasure.
The Cros Town Bus scene is interesting but the polka dot scheme is a bit much.

Pacific Electric fans please note that the June 2022 issue of Railfan & Railroad includes an article about Pacific Electric lines still going.

Thanks for another great day of traffic and traction.
