CN Chicago Meltdown ?
Author: BurtNorton

Embargoes in place for traffic heading to CN's Chicago area transload subsidiary AND for auto racks headed to its auto ramp. Also, interchange trains to CN in Chicagoland have been held out from interchange 1-4 days. Customers on CN lines around Chicago told CN can't accept new business or avoiding shipping CN entirely. Yikes!

Not sure if this is a troll or if they forgot to include their source.

But we've been assured countless times that CN "doesn't have a Chicago problem"!

There must be a big problem -- because Amtrak has officially asked the STB to ORDER the CN to turn
over dispatching the former IC line out of Chicago to Amtrak.

On the Chicago and Freeport Subs operations appear somewhat normal. The only unusual thing in the last few days is L536 (Glenn-Kirk) was given 3 GP38-2's for power with 130+ cars, something I've never seen in years of observing. It always gets high horsepower six axles. The night before, L537 (which becomes L536's power) had two SD70's and 3 GP38-2's (different ones), so its odd that the 6 axles were left at Glenn.

No troll here....all one has to do is have access to the AAR website and search for embargo notifications.

Looking at that last, it appears the entire country is in meltdown. How is CN in Chicago different?

But, but, up until the STB meeting a few weeks ago the Class Ones were telling everyone that would listen that all was well. 🧐

Kinda like Kevin Bacons character at the end of “Animal House” at the homecoming parade.

They that have no shame.

The Class 1 railroads seem to be telling STB that they're fluid to some degree or another, as in, we don't see a problem that getting rid of those pesky employees won't fix.

And of course, a fluid can't melt, so....
