UP8444 East at the Top of the Hill

Cresting the hill at Telocaset on the Huntington Subdivision in Oregon we see 8444 with an eastbound  manifest train in October of 2014.Bill Webb

The area between North Powder and Union has always had lots of nice angles for railroad-related photography, but I can't believe it's been nearly 35 years since the first "wide-cabs" began showing up there on the UP.  I still haven't worked them in to my "like" list, but I'm sure the crews appreciate them much more.

I was expecting to see a steam engine, but that's nice too!  Looks like a friendly crewman in the cab.
