KCS Alliance sub in Plano TX update
Author: KB5WK

Update on the KCS Alliance sub that runs from Wylie Texas to Denton area to Krum TX.
Link > https://www.dart.org/about/expansion/silverline.asp

The jointed rail is on borrowed time.  The DART Silverline project will be happening soon. DART will pull up a portion of the line from Renner Connection near Custer Road to East Plano at Los Rios Blvd and replace with concrete ties and new rail.

KCS will detour trains from on the Dallas sub and White Rock branch until the DART Silverline project is finished. Estimated to take a year.  LWY101, locals and sand trains will run from Wylie down the Dallas sub to Dallas yard (Zacca) and vice versa. Since there is no connecting track to the White Rock branch from the Dallas sub. Trains arriving Dallas yard from either direction will have to run ther power around to their train to get moving again. Unless they run with DP units. Going to be interesting to see this.

KCS will be compensated for the detours. $2000 per each detour not to exceed 1 million dollars.  The local news have covered a few complaints from the NIMBY's (not in my backyard). All negative of course. Many will die as a result of this dormant track being reactivated. L O L

Pics from my drone of the concrete ties and grade crossings getting ready to be installed.

That's interesting, thanks for the update. Been a long time since big mainline freight ran from Zacha Jct to Renner, and the Nimbys all forget the miles-long TOFC trains SF ran back in the day, all slow movers too!
