Tillamook, OR RR Operations Question
Author: tgcostello

A (non-TO) friend is heading to Tillamook Oregon next week.  I'm not familiar with the POTB RR operations, if any.

Would anyone here be able to share insights on days of operation and departure times?

Thanks
Tim Costello

POTB has not run since the floods of 2007 washed out a bunch of the line in Salmonberry canyon.
The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad runs daily on a part of the line from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach.

Tillamook is cut off from the national rail network after many wash outs along the line years ago.  So far the benefits of reopening the rail line will not outweigh the costs of rebuilding it.  POTB no longer operates but the Oregon Coast Scenic RR is close by.  https://oregoncoastscenic.org/

As a consolation prize, visit the Tillamook dairy. Excellent ice cream, and a bunch of other yummy stuff as well.

And Oregon Coast Scenic s a good ride or chase as well.

and if your non-TO friend wants to visit a nice community right on the beach, go west to Oceanside, Roseanna's restraunt has a marion berry cobbler that is to die for....with Tillamook Ice Cream for sure.......... and don't forget the blimp hanger (Naval Air Station - Tillamook).          .Arlen

The air station still has a SD9 by it. Think the rest were cut up
