Last Light on the longest day of the Year
Author: funnelfan

Now here is a angle that would be hard to get most of the year. The tracks here run mostly west by northwest between Oxman and Pleasant Valley. The sun has nearly fallen behind the mountains as a westbound UP freight struggles up the 2.2% grade of Encina Hill. The tracks cling to the hillside above Alder Creek on the opposite side of the valley from I-84. Tuesday, June 21st, 2022.

This is Hindman Hill. (Long ago, Hindman was a siding between Oxman and Pleasant Valley.) Encina Hill is Quartz to Encina (eastbound).

Best regards,
