A Thirty for Thursday, sort of...
Author: swaool

BNSF GP39E 2741 leads an "ABBA" consist on train 644, the Sumas Turn, southbound on the Bellingham Sub at Mt. Vernon (WA), November 25, 2013.  Built 5/62 as CB&Q 946, she still has the "GP30 look".  I can't say that I'm a fan of those obtrusive air conditioning units atop the cab, but a/c is certainly nice to have on these hot summer days.

Very NICE catch with BN green on the point with the two "B" units!

No, you're doing just fine. If it looks like a GP30, if it quacks like a GP30......... (you know the rest). Very early in TO's "GP30 Thursday" history some clown jumped up on a very high horse, pounded on his chest and screamed to the mountain top: "THAT'S NOT A GP30, THAT'S A GP39-3 xyz, yada yada yada!!!!" Quite an impressive tirade.

As far as I CARE, if it's a GP30 shell, it qualifies for GP30 Thursday. Period.

And those air conditioning units do not work for very long (most don't work at all now).

Yep,  and despite the ugly a/c units it looks great leading the two B units.
