Western Railroad Discussion > Remember thee Roadrailer ?Date: 07/29/22 11:19 Remember thee Roadrailer ? Author: lamta_jay These were the only Roadrailer trains I saw while living in Bakersfield and working in Santa Clarita.
These were both Sunday Mornings as I took the long way to work ! First shot taken just north of Downtown (LOL) Mojave on 7/30/1997. The second shot with the 2 SD60's was actually a detour for this train as it was on the old SP Saugus Route into Los Angeles, this train usually took the Colton Cutoff over Cajon to get to City of Industry ! Photo location is at CP Harold MP 67.5 Date: 07/29/22 11:51 Re: Remember thee Roadrailer ? Author: sp8234 There it is, Thanks for posting!
Was the UP SD60, NS SD50/60 taking on the same day as the BNSF SD75 from the https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,5514174,5514350#msg-5514350 post? I’ve wondered if they could build the trailers out of carbon fiber would that solve the weight problem and make Roadrailers competitive. I know the cost would go through the roof, so it’s just a pipe dream.
