Riparia Fire hits the Great Northwest RR
Author: funnelfan

Now the Great Northwest RR is taking a hit in the Snake River Canyon between Riparia and Central Ferry. This fire is burning along the north side of the Snake River where the railroad is. On Wednesday the Lower Goose Fire burned along the south side of the Snake River across from Riparia.

Very true so how many are right now then?  Know that crop dusters in that area have been used to fight fires in the past. Knew several personally over the years which dropped water on them. Oh and do know there are many fires buring is in the news every night.

Air Tractor makes a version of their Crop Duster called a Fire Boss that is very effective in fighting fires. Many around here have pontoons so they can skim water from lakes, and with the Snake River right there, they have a good source of water if the wind doesn't make the water too choppy.

Wind is another reason you can't use fixed wing or helicopter fire bombers sometimes.
When it starts getting up into the 40 MPH range the ability for airdrops to happen starts going down real fast.
