Union Pacific work train power - SD70M 4269
Author: illini73

Replacement of the Linden Avenue grade crossing surface in Wilmette, IL brought a small work train to town over the weekend.  SD70M 4269 with three ballast cars and two flats of track panels stands by while track forces work on the crossing just ahead.  Bringing up the rear is a transfer caboose, former Missouri Pacific 7504 (with EOT).  In addition to this project, a major tie renewal project on the Kenosha subdivision, normally home to Metra commuter trains only, started today, so there will probably be more work for 4269 in the coming weeks.

People will tell you that's not a transfer caboose.

Correct.
It looks like a maintenance of way caboose in these pictures.

And it was built and classified as a "Road" caboose.

Regardless of its classification, that unit has been everywhere. I have photos of it in Denver too!
