Was it being towed backwards by that diesel?

Surprise!
I try to support as many rail preservation groups as I can, but this is why I never donate to the 3751 organization.  They never publicize these moves so the public can view.  I have zero interest in seeing any locomotive just sit on a spur at Fullerton, while someone passes out Operation Lifesaver pamphlets.  If they don't want us to see it run, I don't know why they restored it to operation in the first place. But then again all they ever do is push it from Redondo to Fullerton and back, so that is hardly worth the effort to go out and see.  3751 is scarcely more interesting now than it was when it sat in Viaduct park in San Berdoo.

Maybe you should consider today’s environment for operating Mainline Steam. I believe 3751 just had major work done on it. They have done trips to San Diego. One I was able to ride on. I am hesitant to be critical of any groups these days who operate steam. Perhaps BNSF or Metrolink requested they not make the move public. Much like NS does when 765 or 611 move on their tracks.

You in the orange shirt on the fireman's side on railcam at 14:57?

The S train ahead of you at 14:26 went into emergency at the depot and was there for 20 minutes.

So just to be clear, did it run to Fullerton in reverse ie backing up?

3751's trip to Fullerton was mentioned on TO on 9/12-  https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,5539932,5540386#msg-5540386  In that thread, it mentions to go to San Bernardino RR Historical Society for details.

I made a post about 3751's trip to Fullerton on TO on 9/14-  https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,5541393,5541682#msg-5541682

Yes, 3751 was run in reverse to Fullerton.  It will run forward back to LA Sunday afternoon (a steam crew member told me that it will be sometime after 3:00 PM Sunday).

Yes, the Amtrak Surfliner "cab-car" was on the point, steamer on the rear. The Amtrak P42 and 4-8-4 Northern were both quietly idling as they passed me by at Hobart Yard. It is slightly downhill/flat (eastbound) along that stretch of BNSF mainline.

He went by us at Eastern as we departed the yard and we were on his blocks all the way up the hill.
