Your date of 1951 for the photo at Santa Ana is entirely possible. We know that the last scheduled passenger
service to Santa Ana was on July 2, 1950 but freight continued to roll down 4th St from the West until 1955
when PE signed an agreement with parent SP to use their tracks from Stanton via West and South Anaheim
to the existing SP station in town .4 miles east of PE's station. The agreement allowed removal of PE's tracks
between the station, seen here, and West Santa Ana, leaving a 7 mile stub of the original PE track eastward
from Stanton to serve remaining freight shippers. Looks like the crew onboard 306 has ample help to flag
themselves across traffic and onto 4th St. Could you imagine an Amtrak crew allowing such shenanigans today?
Different times, indeed.

No 19 is at Watts Tower, the southern end of Pacific Electric's four-track main line from downtown Los Angeles.
Car 5096 is a 1949 rebuild where the motorman did it all; ran the car, took fares, lined switches (except those
operated by interlocking operators). The car is leaving the Watts car house headed across three main tracks to
the "Inbound Local Main" where it will load its passengers at the 103rd St station for the 7.45 mile trip to
6th & Main Sts in downtown LA. It was scrapped by Metropolitan Coach Lines in 1956.

A great group of photos, as usual.  I also enjoyed the vintage photos.  I wonder, however, if it might be Lehigh Valley RR, rather than Leigh Valley?

Injured my hand so comments will be brief for next couple weeks.

Ritzville Action
Moderate tempuratures are nice skies, perfect for railfanning.
Two covered hoppers in BN scheme were a very nice catch.
The drop center flat is definitely interesting and not ordinary.
Unit Of The Day is UP #6923.

Historic Traction
18 - Wonderful PE scene with so much to like I don't know where to begin.
20 - Interesting scene,  Coach appears to be a GM Model TD-4506.
22 -That Mack Old Look tells us it is definitely Pepsi time.

Thanks for posting more interesting Ritzville Action and wonderful Historic Traction.

Great trains. I like the BPAX green flat car. Not easy to find these big ones on the tracks.
Hope you can get your hand better soon.

MOW is sure getting some use out the BNSF 6998, 711. Those were the same two units that pulled the MOW equipment train west out of Cheney on Monday.

Good stuff, Larry, as usual.  Thanks for posting.  #22 is interesting.  I believe that's a bus garage somewhere in SF.  And notice the lettingering on the pavement to the left side of the photo.  They wanted only a certain type of bus in that lane.  I've never seen that anywhere before.
