Bridge Hit Capitol of the World
Author: funnelfan

Seems the railroad bridges of Spokane having been taking daily hits lately. Around 9pm Wednesday night a truck pulling some construction equipment on a flatbed trailer rammed the beams under the BNSF bridge over Sprague and Division St in downtown Spokane, WA. One piece of equipment fell off the trailer and at least one bridge beam was severely damaged. I haven't heard how this is affecting the BNSF/UP/Amtrak trains that use the bridge daily. But a westbound BNSF train just went past Cheney just now, so they must be able to use the bridge. This is the second time this particular bridge has been hit in a week, the last time it removed a container from a flatbed trailer.

Spokane Meme's has been having a field day with bridge hits lately. It's pretty common but definitely seems unusually high lately.

With the Freya exit on I-90 closed, truckers are finding alternate routes with low clearances.
