Boise Valley RR
Author: jimB

On a previous Boise trip, I noticed the Boise Valley switching an area northesat of the airport from the window as we departed, so Wednesday I allowed an extra hour to see if I could catch them around mid day.

1. The power (ex CN GP40-2LWs, leased from Watco?) running around their train at Gekeler Rd, north of I84.

2. Same spot, about to couple onto and shove 2 cars and pull the rest up the hill under I84 to the trackage near the airport.

3. Having set out the cars being shoved, passing the Yankee Motor Museum at the top of the hill on the airport side of I84.

My timing was good - it was raining by the time I got to the terminal. If I have any of my details wrong, corrections welcome. I am not that familiar with this area

The Boise Valley Railroad is owned and operated by Watco which explains the Watco power.

A DUKW no less.
Those old CN units are like the Energizer Bunny-they keep going and going!

GP40's of any flavor are almost indestructible.
