Maybe this hasn't caught on yet nationwide. LOL and KCS has been keeping this unit mostly clean. Amazing. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/23/22 07:39 by KB5WK. Date: 09/23/22 18:46 KRR 4050 Author: toledopatch That picture of the Kiamichi 4050 is a very "what might have been" thing for me. The colors are those RailTex brieffy adopted for the Indiana & Ohio after acquiring most of the former Detroit, Toledo & Ironton from CN in 1997. Unfortunately, RailTex soon abandoned the concept of having distinct paint schemes for its properties, and then after RailAmerica bought RailTex, a lot of the I&O fleet was reassigned elsewere -- such as this unit to the Kiamichi -- and the I&O became mostly a mishmash of bandits. Under Genesee & Wyoming ownership there had been an influx of G&W-painted units, but now recently some ugly patched-out ex-UP SD60Ms from Larry's have shown up.
This picture reminds me of how enthusiastic I was at the beginning of the I&O - but how quickly that enthusiasm soured. I believe eight units in all were painted like this one -- six ex-CSX GP40s and two GP30s (don't know their heritage). Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/23/22 18:48 by toledopatch. Date: 10/05/22 16:07 Re: The Silver Sausage Author: Mattnosekai Thank you KB5WK,
I'm really happy to see these great photos. So many of the other videos and photos online focus on the Alliance Sub or Greenville. I'm glad to see the Dallas Sub getting some coverage (during the daytime! what are the odds?). White Rock sub photos are great too. |
