Larry Ritzville, WA Date: 09/23/22 17:52 Re: Rolling Towards the Weekend On The BNSF-A Bit Of Traction Author: Railpax71 #21 Been to the Art Institute in Chicago on the right hand side when there was time between arriving trains from the east and the westbound deoartures. You are at the corner of Jackson and Michigan Ave here.
Date: 09/23/22 19:10 Re: Rolling Towards the Weekend On The BNSF-A Bit Of Traction Author: Railpax71 #20 You are on 1st ave south between Washington (ahead) and Yesler (behind), Seattle, Wa. It was dicey to walk this section 50 years ago. Just a few blocks around look even worse with tents on the sidewalks. I was amazed at the area around King Street in the earth view.
Date: 09/23/22 19:18 Re: Rolling Towards the Weekend On The BNSF-A Bit Of Traction Author: Ritzville Thanks Railpax71 for the locations in Chicago and Seattle. Looks different these days, but nice to still see some older buildings still around.

Mild weather and plenty of action. Intermodal traffic volume is impressive; plus I like all the colors. NS #8007 only foreign power. Unit Of The Day is BNSF #9074. Historic Traction 17 - Terrific photo angle about halfway between a 3/4 view and a broadside 19 - Coach #877 is a GM Model TD-3609. 20 - Trolley bus sure looks good; I loved to ride on them when I was a youngster. 21 - the Twin coaches made up part of the Chicago scene for some time. Thanks for your time and work spent putting together today's posting. Your work is appreciated. ALLEN Date: 09/23/22 20:44 Re: Rolling Towards the Weekend On The BNSF-A Bit Of Traction Author: cewherry No 17 is indeed at the foot of the viaduct which led from San Pedro St, pavement in foreground, to
Pacific Electric's station at 6th & Main St's in downtown Los Angeles. Former Northwestern Pacific car 306 has made its mandatory safety stop and is nosing its way on to the southbound lanes of San Pedro St traffic. At the rear of the big car we see the conductor performing his required flagging by positioning himself at the left rear entrance of the big car and displaying a red flag to warn unsuspecting motorists of the extreme overhang. So serious was this task PE issued issued instructions to conductors to not begin collecting fares until after leaving 9th and San Pedro Sts., two and a half blocks after entering San Pedro from the Viaduct. Another bit of minutiae: owing to their extreme width, 300 and 400 class cars, (Blimps), were not to exceed 10 mph while passing on Olympic Blvd/9th St. No 18; obviously the railfans are out on another little used piece of track. The location given would place this car somewhere in the vicinity of the Veterans Administration hospital at Sawtelle on PE's Western District. We can see this was once double track, maybe it still was. Honestly, I'm at a loss to pin this one down. Good luck.
