Snake-like Stack Train

BNSF 4868 East works upgrade at MP 1628 on the Columbia River sub.  This is between Albus and Trinidad (WA) sidings.  October 2011.

I always wonder if bringing back the old SP&S subdivision would help?  A well-engineered line, it was.

Isn't the SP&S Sub still very much in service, used twice a day by the Empire Builder and dozens of BNSF freights?

Yes, west of Pasco, Wa the SP&S is still in use (BNSF's Fallbridge Sub), while east of Pasco is not.

Great photo and location. I stopped off here on my recent trip, but suffered the forest fire haze. We had to change our plans quite a bit. Chris uk
