Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF mixed manifest freight train with 4 CN motors along for rideDate: 11/20/22 20:46 BNSF mixed manifest freight train with 4 CN motors along for ride Author: jmulhol2 A long 5x1 westbound (geographically northbound--to--eastbound) mixed manifest freight train is seen here coming off the BNSF Hillsboro Subdivision and taking one leg of the wye to pull into the BNSF Grand Forks, ND, train yard from the west end during the sunny and chilly mid-morning hours of 11/20/2022. A total of 4 CN motors were along for the ride on the head end. This was also the first time that I've seen a Grand Forks, ND-bound mixed manifest freight train with a DPU. The photo is of the DPU idling in the train yard.

Mandan crews would leave some cars in Beulah on the Beulah Turn if they were to exceed 150 cars as the set up of the Beulah yard and the Zap Line Sub east made it impossible to tack on a DP as there wasn't any road access along the Knife River to shuttle the conductor.
