Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF - UPS special move west?

BNSF just moved a very short train of mostly UPS containers and trailers west through Fort Madison IA around 10.25 am.  BNSF 4297 plus 1 with 12 trailers and 11 containers.  Very short train.

I wonder if this was a "rush" shipment for UPS, or just an unusually short movement for a Thursday?

JB Hunt mentioned on their earnings call that BNSF has shown hustle, and an increasing responsiveness to the customer's needs on intermodal.  Maybe this is an example for another important customer?  Or maybe UPS fronted the $$$ to get this move done.

Probably a late connection by rail or internal UPS at CACH that needs to meet tonight's sort in KC to make delivery tomorrow.  Giving service to your number one custome is always a good thing.

Looks like it passed at 9:22am camera time, couldn't find anything like that in the 10 o'clock hour.

RRs used to do that--particularly to expedite automotive parts. You don't shut down an automotive assembly line....

WB train passed La Plata, MO at 11:26 am.

There was another similar sized eastbound train with UPS trailers that passed La Plata at 11:04 am.
