Tehachapi Derail

Surprised no one has mentioned that UP had a deailment West of Marcel about 0200 this morning dropping
a couple cars well off the rails. Derail was mid train, front end has cleared Tehachapi, rear end w/dpu is being
pulled back West by a 3 unit set out of Bako which is waiting to tie on. Derail site is difficult to get to, no idea
of track damage. Derailed train looks to be a MWCRV of some sort.

Last car on the rescue train back to Bako is an IM section missing the drawbar, looks like WC IM might be a few
cars short.

train stalled on the way up, then was backing down and a rail rolled someone said, well cars, but if the rail rolled over, not the rolling equipments fault?

Yep a friend just called me driving on 58 said he had seen lots of trucks on the hill and it was a double stack. He is going to investigate it a bit if he can.

If you search YT for 'MAJOR DERAILMENT on Tehachapi Pass'  there is a video of the aftermath and clean up.
