Western Railroad Discussion > SB Coal Loads still run in ColoradoDate: 03/15/23 15:28 SB Coal Loads still run in Colorado Author: ns2557 Not as many as in the previous years by any means tho. But one can find Coal Loads still bringing dinero to Warren and his machine. Coming home from Denver this morning saw a few along the way. Caught up to this one at Sedalia and got ahead of it. Had to wait a few minutes for it to get to my spot but it managed to do so. The 2 shots are of SB BNSF 6424/6047 leading the C EBMSLP 009B just north of the Meadows Parkway Bridge over the tracks on the SB Main 1 on the Colo Joint Line. US 85 follows the tracks quite aways as they head south from Denver to the Palmer Divide at Palmer Lake. They were working pretty good moving 124 cars at 17722T of so called Black Gold as they passed under me here. And the weather was great Temps in low to mid 60's thru here. And as is typical it seems, Snow is forecast overnight and thru tomorrow along with at least a 30 degree drop in temps to go along with it. Thanks for looking. Be well all, Ben

Thank you for posting. Steve Zahn Superior, CO Date: 03/15/23 16:04 Re: SB Coal Loads still run in Colorado Author: alongthejointline Nice catches Ben. Traffic on the Joint Line sure isn't what it was even a few years ago.

Loads for Arizona on the Coronado/Springerville Line usually have a 2x3 set up. Saw a NB at Monument after this shot that was 1x? it was an empty just didn't see the rear of it tho. The double empties that run occasionally are set up 2x4x2. Ben Date: 03/16/23 03:48 Re: SB Coal Loads still run in Colorado Author: jgilmore Really like the perspective on these shots, great work!
