Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF C40-8W's headed north out of Galveston

This evening I was surprised to catch a BNSF light engine moving north on the Galveston Sub at Sealy, TX. I took some pictures, but the lighting was too low for me to get sharp, in-focus photos. I followed the move north to Bellville, thinking it might take the siding or go in the yard there, but green lights welcomed the move north on the mainline.

The move was passing through Bellville at 8 pm CST.

Appears to be a light power move to St Louis, MO. Not sure what'll happen to all the old power once in town.

So is this a funeral train?  Or truly moving power to St. Louis to utilize?

My guess, they're beyond dead and final-destined for Progress Rail Services in East St. Louis to continue rusting away and/or be slowly parted out along with the other Gensets and Dash-8s already on site.

Arrived St. Louis Monday night, 3/20/23. BNSF 1234 was set out at Thackerville, OK for warm bearings. BNSF 883 was set out at Nowers Yard in Oklahoma City, OK for an unknown reason.
