on the road again . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   after a brief visit with family in MS along with a passing storm, headed back towards Colorado yesterday. Not expecting much in the way of good weather was very surprised and pleased with yesterday afternoon as well as most of today. The KCS did not dissapoint.
top: The was actually yesterday afternoon catching a westbound approaching Monroe, LA, on KCS Shreveport Sub.
middle and bottom: First stop this morning was my normal visit to Gibsland, LA, to see what might be around, finding three LNW units in two schemes.
.   .   .   fifteen more to come   .   .   .

.   .   .
top: while following KCS main west from Gibsland, heard KCS 4150 calling signals catching this eastbound intermodal at Haughton, LA.
middle and bottom: saw headlight crossing over main in Bossier City, LA, so went to check things out finding a local switching the former IC yard. While waiting for the local a couple of eastbound passed through.
.   .   .   twelve more to come   .   .   .

.   .   .
top: after a little more than an hour, the local finally departed eastbound out of Bossier City.
middle: while passing the former location of Shreveport Union Station, a BNSF led coal train was backing through town.
bottom: then headed to the north end of KCS Shreveport Yard where a northbound was shoving part of his train into the yard.
.   .   .   nine more to go   .   .   .

middle: later the grain empty went in the next siding north, Shoreline, to meet a southbound show approaching the north siding switch Shorelone.
bottom: the grain empty crossing a bayou near Vivian, LA.
.   .   .   down to six more   .   .   .

.   .   .
top: northbound grain empty approaching Rodessa, LA.
middle: loaded grain waiting on main for grain empty at Sandra siding north of Rodessa.
bottom: grain load acceleration away from Sandra siding.
.   .   .   finally last three to go   .   .   .

.   .   .
top: grain load DPU shoving away.
middle and bottom: after both KCS trains departed, headed to Queen City, TX, twenty five miles south of Texarkana, to grab a sandwich and see if anything would come. I believe this is a directional running UP former MP line as siding was not well used and two northounds passed in close proximity ending a day that was way better than expected.

Nice day's work, Joe. I like the LNWR 3048, 3814 scheme (photo two). 3048 is ex-DRGW and 3814-ex GMO (IC).

That blue is sharp. It is the Patriot Rail Corp scheme. Ben

Excellent series JB, and I especially like the units (blue GPs) with more logo than loco.
