Riding on an old track tamper
Author: BrianA

Train traffic was pretty light on the Stampede and Yakima Valley Subs today (like NO trains at all in daylight!) so we got to enjoy more time at the Northern Pacific Railway Museum at Toppenish, WA. Nice thing about being a member is getting to ride along while equipment is being moved around. Here a track tamper is being shoved onto a side track and I am front and center enjoying the ride. We do not have much info on our track tamper itself. I'm am curious about the heritage and when it was built. If anyone has more info it would be appreciated.

Love it!!! Makes all the from-the-cab shots I ever took seem kinda tame...

It's got jacks. That's super handy.
