Arizona in Bloom
Author: MacBeau

One of the great surprises last week came upon reaching Peach Springs, AZ. The entire landscape was covered in Desert globe mallow as this 90 car passed by westbound. Not the greatest light, obviously, but the colors where too enticing to ignore. In total ten different species of wildflowers were discovered in the drive along old 66.
Be of good cheer,

Very nice. We were just out that way earlier this month.

Speaking of old Rt. 66, I snapped this on the trip at Continental Divide, NM. The view faces west, with I-40 on the left, and Rt. 66 on the right.

Nice to see when one considers a desert as a sandy wasteland. My sisters both live in Arizona and the wet spring really livened up the landscape. I've never gotten further west than Texas hill country and when it isn't winter it is green! My one sister said once the temperature hit 100 all her flowers fried!
Orange other than BNSF!

I think about that a lot when driving through what I'd call "scrub country". I wouldn't be kicking any of the small bushes on a hot, sunny day.

Thankfully I have yet to encounter a single one of the seventeen species that supposedly populate the state. Hopefully that will not change.
