Pacing coal empties across Iowa
Author: CNW

On the way to the C&NWHS convention in Sioux City, Iowa, we ran along side this westbound 293 car double coal empty along US 30 between Clinton and Cedar Rapids on May 18th.

Good stuff, thanks for posting.  For those not familiar with this area, the first section was between Wheatland and Lowden including a stretch along Lowden Siding, which is east of that town.  The next section was west of Lowden.  The meet was on clarence Hill, between Clarence and Stanwood.  The final portion was at the west end of the Mechanicsville Curve and on into that town.  Just FYI.

Beats the heck out of what I saw on UP the other day.  Southbound coal train , 5 engines between Denton Tx and Ft Worth making 25 MPH.  Poor speed.
