California State Railroad Museum (CSRM) owned rotary snow plow SPMW 205 is at the CSRM in Sacramento, CA on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
SPMW 205 is an ALCo Rotary Snow Plow. Reportedly: SPMW 205 was built by American Locomotive Co. (ALCo) at it's Brooks Works as a steam powered snow plow, SP 715. It was converted to electric in 1958. In 2008 it was donated to the CSRM.

I’ve always thought the Rotary looked odd without its Snail- not unlike a steam locomotive w/o a tender..

Its too bad they never finished the program and built all of them.  

There was a never finished Snail at the Sacramento Shops, I don’t think it ever got beyond primer paint. What ever happened to that one?

I think it was scrapped in the last few years?  That was 8209.  They *started* the rest of them, but the project was cancelled and they got scrapped, I think CSRM got that one for parts maybe?

Ah, I’m glad it too was saved. ‘though it would have made a nice companion for the CSRM’s Rotary.
The folks in Texas probably have grander plans for it…

The story at the time was that they wanted to redecorate it as a Santa Fe F7B to go with the Canadian National F7A they turned into "Santa Fe 49L."
