Mountainair Morning

First morning at the Mountainair airbnb next to the Transcon, the weather was hit or miss and a little hazy. My digital shooting and processing skills don't help either. Views are great here but the wifi is pretty crappy. T-mobile cell service works good though. Three shots from the patio...

Probably in the old days, Mountainair is the high point both east and west, EBs face a 1.25% grade out of Belen and WBs have a more gradual .60% up to Mountainair before cruising downhill...

Yes.  The very last use of Santa Fe steam in revenue service was as helpers between Belen and Mountainair, NM in the summer of 1957.

From where you are is it possible to see where the tracks curve?  Or a hill or a ridge is in the way or someone else's property?

Yeah, you can't see the inside of the curve due to a small hill...
