Western Railroad Discussion > UP 7221 East Along the Truckee River (Donner Pass)

Following up on my post from yesterday of the still shots of UP 7221 leading an eastbound manifest along the Truckee River on Monday, May 29th, 2023, here is the video I shot.

Normally I use a shotgun mic and provide some distance between the still and video cameras, but I didn't do either on Monday, hence the shutter from my still camera banging away in the background.

What ever you did or didn't do that is a very nice video, you did good.

Thanks RC. I have various micro-4/3 camera's that I use for video. They started their lives as competent mirrorless travel cameras, and now they often serve as backup and video cameras. This video was shot with an Olympus OM-D EM1 mk III. I also use a Panasonic G85 and G7 combo at times, but that's generally when I want to roll more than 1 camera. (The Olympus shoots in a Cinema 4k format, while the Panasonics shoot UHD. It's an extra step in post to crop the Oly video, so I usually keep them separated.)

The shutter noise doesn’t bother me actually, no need to apologize.

I second the shutter noise not bothering me. I sometimes get that in my videos when I'm railfanning with a group, and it hints at a social gathering. That is a good thing.

Yeah, this one was a grab bag of garbage...a little of everything. That made it kind of awesome though.
