Author: jmulhol2 A solo GE ES44C4, BNSF #7986 (built between 2014-2015), shoves hard on the rear of this 113-car westbound loaded unit grain shuttle train in a common 2x1 power configuration seen here passing the far west end of the BNSF Grand Forks, ND, train yard and entering the BNSF Devils Lake Subdivision to start its long trek westward during the cloudy, cool, and damp noontime hour of 09/25/2023. This train was originally loaded at the "West Central Ag Services" grain elevator in Beltrami, MN, located along the Minnesota Northern Railroad. These loaded unit grain shuttle trains get handed off to BNSF crews in Crookston, MN, along the BNSF Grand Forks Subdivision. The "West Central Ag Services" grain elevator in Beltrami, MN, has been quite busy lately with loading at least 5+ shuttle trains over the last 2-weeks or so signifying that we are truly in the heart of the "grain rush" (i.e., harvest season). This train is eventually bound for unloading into big grain silos at the "Tacoma Export Marketing Company (TEMCO)" grain facility in Tacoma, WA, along the BNSF Seattle Subdivision. This grain is then likely destined to get loaded onto large dry bulk carrier ships to take the long westward trek across the Pacific Ocean to the Asian Markets (e.g., Korea, Japan, China, etc.). For example, there is a ship named "MAGIC MOON" (built: 2005) at the "Tacoma Export Marketing Company (TEMCO)" grain facility in Tacoma, WA, now that docked back on 09/23/2023 after taking the approximately 3-4 week long journey from Korea according to vesselfinder.com. A couple other large dry bulk carrier ships from China are also currently near the "Tacoma Export Marketing Company (TEMCO)" grain facility in Tacoma, WA, just offshore.
