Western Railroad Discussion > No Camera, No Radio, No ProblemDate: 05/15/24 13:25 No Camera, No Radio, No Problem Author: okcrr Wasn't planning on watching trains, but that's where I ended up yesterday driving back to Colorado Springs from Denver. I noticed BNSF Q-SPOALT6 working its way south through Castle Rock so I got off the highway in Larkspur. No camera so I used my cell phone. Wish I had my camera with me though as the weather was moody enough to maybe get some decent shots.
Normal-ish train makeup for this one. Lumber and manifest traffic up front, intermodal in the back. Surprised to see some UPS trailers, as this train is pretty slow and often delayed. They might be empties. Also, don't typically see international containers. It's usually just a bunch of JB Hunt boxes. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 05/15/24 13:25 Re: No Camera, No Radio, No Problem Author: okcrr After it pulled past me in Larkspur I moved to Palmer Lake to catch it coming around the curve by the "lake". Really wish I had some better equipment with me!

Modern cell phones incorporate such powerful photo capabilities a DSLR just isn't worth the investment. Maybe for a proffessional but a railfan, or posing on the Interweb, nah!
Nicely done and reported, thanks! Go Date: 05/15/24 22:43 Re: No Camera, No Radio, No Problem Author: coach A view of the Rocky mountains, a lake, nice, grassy area, a busy mainline..............and picnic tables??! Gotta go there!!! I mean, really--it's perfect!

Plus the sky with Thunderhead and (Castle rock?) Plateau reminds me of a scene from "Close Encounters 3rd Kind" movie I just watched (again) a few days ago! Jim Baker Riverside, CA |
