Western Railroad Discussion > Brief Friday and Saturday report

I had last Friday off work so I did what I normally do, head up to Cajon. Not much activity but there was sunshine and a couple of above average trains. I started for Sullivan’s Curve but a UP manifest in Canyon siding altered my plans.

1) At Pine Lodge and not yet 7AM when BNSF 7788 popped into view beneath Highway 138 with a short stack train. Most of the 7700 class units have been tagged over the years so it’s always a treat to run across a freshly painted one. Fun fact-with the literally thousands of pictures I’ve taken in Cajon Pass, I don’t think I’ve ever shot a morning westbound here before.

2) Earlier, I saw BNSF “sticker unit” 5828 leading an eastbound Z-train and stayed at Pine Lodge for it.

4) And going away with stickers proudly displayed.

5) Next was the UP “Denver Z’ with fairly fresh repaint 5947. After setting the camera wrong at Pine Lodge, I had to take a consolation shot at MP 57 which is at Martinez (just east of Summit).

6) The next morning, Saturday June 15, got off to a good enough start with BNSF 7049 on a westbound geometry train seen from the Mt Vernon overpass in San Bernardino. But, nothing else of interest ever ran so I quit early.

Sunday was a railfan day off so that was it, thanks for looking,

Good stuff, thanks for posting.  The shot of the geometry car is realoy neat.  I didn't realize they had solar panels on the roof.  Apreciate finding that out.

Nice catch of the clean GE leaders, the BNSF "Sticker" and the leader on the Denver Z.
