On their way home
Author: ns2557

Was in Pueblo Co earlier today. After finishing what I had to do there, headed out to check out the activity, if any, around town. Scanner chat was active as BNSF was talking with a SB out of Pueblo Yard. That and supposedly there was a UP train at Avondale Co and my direction was settled. Eastbound. While headed that way saw a headlight and figured it was the BNSF East Local headed back to Pueblo.. Found a spot along US50 at one of the few road crossings east of the siding at Baxter I waited. As the train approached, saw something different in the consist. Thought at first it was a High Wide but that quickly materialized in what ya see in shot 1.  BNSF 4032 has BNSF 2962 and the 2 SD40-2's that the Colorado Pacific was using til they got their new power. CXR SD40-2's 1964 and 1923 were tucked in nicely behind the locals 2 units. Here they are seen moving along quite well. They had to stop at Baxter at the NSS located there to wait for that SB out of Pblo, not a real long wait. BNSF 8347 lead the SB with a Loram Ballast Cleaning set up and as soon as they went by, the 4032 was on it's way once again. They were really moving along after leaving the siding here. I couldn't catch them without really getting after it myself. They were moving to say the least.

After getting into Pueblo Yard they had instructions to put all 4 units on the fuel pad there against the "switcher" already there. That turned out to be BNSF SD40-2 1746. Not exactly what I would call a switcher by any means.

Shot's 2 & 3 show the units on the fuel pad in the yard at Pueblo. One from the south end of the pad, the other, from the north end.  Nothing like a nice colorful set of power to go along with nice sunny blue skies.  Not sure where these 2 or now headed to, but while they were out east, apparently they did the job.

All shots taken today in Pueblo Co and also at Devine Colo.  10-29-2024.   Thanks for looking, be well. Ben

Thanks, Ben, for the latest Colorado Pacific RR power moves.  Evidently, the newer power is working just fine out by Eads, CO.  Wonder where the CXR 1923 and 1964 are headed-?

Why Yes I did, (The bldg still stands, just not the store, think it's a security outfit now. Even the one in town here is now long gone.) But that was oh so many years ago.   Better half says hello. Take care, Ben
