How do you shoot an iconic steam engine in low light* with a hundred other fans all milling around? Here’s how: get creative and go for the artsy shots. And be sure to have great fun doing so!

1. UP 4-8-8-4 #4014 in an unusual angle, with...

2. ...CPKC 4384 approaching and passing behind the Big Boy’s display spot. The 4384 is visible between the 4014 and its lead tender.

3. It’s nearly 7 PM and I can get a little artsy-fartsy. A full moon is rising, and I can get a slice of the iconic Western Auto sign. The 4014 sits there wondering why it’s being called a “camp car”... ;^)

Wow, you made it to Kansas City for UP 4014 Big Boy-!  Way to go.  Thanks for posting your fine images.

Well the orange traffic cones and rope looks a lot better than traffic barriers and orange snow fencing!

just an FYI, those ropes are 8 foot long pvc pipes with red/white tape on them, with rings to go over those cones, someone also makes them with wellow/black stripes also.
