Odd phrasing in a grade crossing article
Author: wister6813

I found this on the KCTV web page today. I don't recall seeing the locomotive identified when describing a grade crossing accident. Curious the railroad was not mentioned. Amoret is on the CPKC about a hour south of Kansas City.

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 1:35 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, emergency crews were called to the area of NW 3002 Rd. and Route Y, about a mile north of Amoret, with reports of a train collision.

"When first responders arrived, they said they found a 41-year-old Amoret man had been driving his 2001 Dodge Dakota west on the roadway as he came across a railroad crossing. However, a 2014 Electromotive Diesel locomotive conducted by a 37-year-old Pittsburg man had been making its way down the track.

"State Troopers said the driver of the pickup failed to yield to the train and attempted to continue through the crossing but was struck. Both vehicles came to a complete stop about one mile south of the crash scene.

Reporter probably took the description of the engine from the crash report rather than the train ID to describe the 'vehice' involved....

At leaset the driver failed to yield instead of the vehicle failing to yield.  Perhaps the rampage of SUVs is finally over!
