A Couple in Cold Stream Canyon
Author: Jesse6669

I spent a nice fall afternoon this weekend hiking in Cold Stream Canyon on the UP Roseville Sub. near Truckee, CA where I caught the westbound California Zephyr and an eastbound Z train.  There were a couple more eastbounds after the Z, but I couldn't stick around (I did hear one as I hiked out).  The old SP signal bridge near the tunnel just west of here is still in place but the signals dark/turned; It's been replaced by the new bridge pictured at MP 198.9.  I do hope I can catch a westbound coal train here at some point, though they are few/far between anymore.

I saw one last week in Truckee, but it may have been a re-route for some reason (fires, etc).
