As it happens once-in-a-while, I was running a couple of errands around town when I discovered that a signal indication at 5th St was telling me a train was on the way. This time it was westbound, so I went right over to a spot next to Midwest Concrete Materials to set up for a sequence with some surprising fall color still hanging around. I didn’t even have a chance to get out of my rig when this yellow nose came creeping around the corner. By a previous signal indication I’m sure the engineer was expecting a red signal at 5th. Even with the train crawling at restricted speed all I could do was roll the window down a bang off a few shots. This middle shot of the sequence completely exposes my unpreparedness for this train. For a short sec, I almost didn’t take this shot. But a quick thought process prompted me to think: “What the heck, go ahead and shoot.” So I did, and now I have an unusual thread with a cornball title to post. Ain’t this a neato hobby... ;^)

*How do you get a locomotive to “duck under” some late fall color??? I haven’t a clue. But it sure made for a catchy thread title...
