Western Railroad Discussion > Snow Busting on Kyle RR at Bovina, CO, 12 Nov 2024

Kyle RR reopened their Colorado line between Burlington, CO, and Limon, CO, using Kyle RR 6843, SD40-2, Utah Railway 5006, BPRR 3333, and RCPE 3997 on 12 November 2024.  The epic three day (Nov 5-7, 2024) snowstorm left over 30-inches of heavy wet snow (cut off low stalled over eastern Colorado) in the Limon to Flagler, CO, vicinity.  Kyle RR had parked their westbound train at Burlington, CO, on 7 Nov 2024 since I-70 and all roads were closed by the heavy wet snow.

May 30, 2014, the newly created Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern Railroad (RCPE) completed its purchase of the west end of the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern (DM&E West) rail line. That evening, the 670-mile line, which runs from western Minnesota across South Dakota and into northern Nebraska and western Wyoming, shut down.  Acquired by Genesee & Wyoming.

I couldn't remember them either-!

I believe RCPE was par of G&W from the start.  Thanks for postng these snow videos and shots.
