26 years ago I was a BNSF special agent and sent from Denver to Barstow for mutual aid because of the dirtbags attacking the trains out there. Doesn't look like things have changes much....

glad to see it, be nice if they had the powers of a special agent to make arrests

Meanwhile, containers are being unloaded at the rear of the train. Doesn't do a lot of good "guarding" the train from the headend.

Not when someone has already gotten on and is just riding a container tossing packages off to someone else following along

i have read the throw boxes out along the row right here on T/O from moving trains in LA. sunset,  cajon, but any action they do is better than nothing, but since they are are in groups i would like to see groups of security, no one guy stuff.

And  they need to able to make  arrests   or at least  detain people till authorities arrive 90 minutes later, unless it is just  supposed to be a visable deterent,  railfans may be just as good at that, be careful

Now, follow me on this, but what if there was a car they could attach to the rear of the train, where you could put a couple of people to keep an eye on the train in front of them-- maybe have an "extended view" section of the car, that lets you look over and along the side of the train ahead.  That could be a major breakthrough in train security!  And with these super-long 12,000 foot monster trains, if you have a problem near the back of the train, those same people could address it much quicker than the crew from the head-end.  I know this is just crazy talk..

SP even had baggage dorms they put on for SP police, had those SP police cabooses too, for the sunset route,  but police forces have largely been destaffed, on those cars long gone, you really need 4x4 trucks suvs, as well.  Neat to have a spotter with night vision, and vehicles to act ... UPRR special agent , says train robbers in california, there have been some familes doing thefts for over 100 years as well.

Don't you people understand this is a minor issue of little interest to the Class 1s? Well they've
sorta said that in the recent past, must not be so minor anynore! Always enjoy the Lathrop Z
