Western Railroad Discussion > CN-UP Falcon Service QuestionsDate: 11/27/24 07:16 CN-UP Falcon Service Questions Author: PRR_4859 Good Morning:
Where does CN interchange intermodal traffic with UP in Chicago for the Falcon Service trains to Mexico? Also, how do transit times from Chicago to Mexico compare now with the CPKC service in the same corridor? Has traffic grown significantly since it started last year? Just curious as I have not heard much about it lately. Thank you in advance. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Date: 11/27/24 09:56 Re: CN-UP Falcon Service Questions Author: pbouzide I can answer the first part: there's a UP turn job (symbol IYCCN) that runs between UP/Yard Center ramp and the CN/Homewood ramp using the connections to the IHB from Yard Center (at Dolton) and between the IHB ex-IC south to Homewood.

Thank you for the response. Do the CN intermodal trains from Western Canada travel the formet EJ&E to Homewood or do they come over the old IC route through downtown Chicago? Thank you again. In contrast, Chicago traffic headed to Mexico is exclusively UP only and is known as Eagle Premium although both are essentially run together via Eagle Pass/the FXE. Basically your question is more about Eagle Premium between Chicago and say Monterrey which UP offers a 4.5 day pickup meaning a transit closer to 3.5 days. CPKC is a little slower to Monterrey (I've read at times they are much slower due to congestion in KC and Houston) but a little faster into central Mexico north of Mexico City. Edited 2 time(s).
