Good morning from Ike!
Author: santafe199

I was killing some time, waiting to meet with cousins & their families at noon-thirty for a big Thanksgiving potluck thing. I drove over before sunup and snooped around the Abilene ~ Salina area for photo opportunities. (Old habits die hard... ;^)

1. 2. & 3. Various angles of UP 8084 pointing a unit grainer parked at Ike (siding), KS on November 28, 2024.

Thanks for looking this way & that way!

Beautiful shots. Looks like there's a little frost on the ties and grass there.

Here's hoping that all had a great Thanksgiving.

Yessir! Even long after telegraph comm was obsolete UP kept the tradition of using a short name for a new location. Retired Salina engr Bob Helling once told me that local train crews had a playful nickname for it: "dead republican"... ;^)
