As usual, I was in Golden on Friday and checked out the action in the BNSF yard. The Beer Run powered by two ES44DC locomotives was making up his train and had the double over to pick up the other cut in the yard. If you look at the first picture carefully you will see the lights of the Golden Switcher in the background.
Surprise surprise, they were bringing out a way car or switching platform to which they had attached the FRED. I'd personally rather call it a caboose but nowadays it’s either switching platform or a way car. Not sure why is was going to Denver or if it will come back
Before they could leave, they had the pickup yet another cut from the lower yard and then finally assemble their train, conduct an air test then wait for clearance to Denver. I had hoped to catch them coming up the grade to the 44th Ave. crossing but they out waited me so I’ll try again another time.
