KCS is no more
Author: Waybiller

Last night was the end of the Kansas City Southern as far as a railroad.  As of May 3 00:01 Eastern the KCS mark ceased to be valid on waybills and all stations are now CPRS.

Possibly....CPRS still existing as a holding company for CP and KCS...operating them both under the banner CPKC....More though, my belief is that this was not merger of equals but a takeover.

Nope, the mark is staying CPRS.

When teaching plain language for regulation writing I would call that "Shakespearean language." Wherefore art though, heretofore, etc.

That was pretty evident from the beginning, it wasn't a "merger", it was an "assimulation". The UP and the Borg would be proud.

Yep, right out of the UP play book. The line up with a WP and MP locomotive flanking a UP unit.....the new Union Pacific System. Everyone keeps their name. Then a WP unit and a MP unit get UP paint but keep their names. Then its decided WP can be erased but MP holds on for awhile. Then its This is Union Pacific and no other identity will be tolerated.

The new company obviously made a mistake in the new corporate initials.  Should be the KCPC, so that way, all they have to do is paint out the "K" and last "C", then voila!, the CP.

I think it's the other way around. Doing business under the CPRS mark. Soo Line and DM&E still exist, but they are operated as a seemless CPRS.
