Western Railroad Discussion > Oasis in the Desert

After driving miles through bone dry sagebrush flats, this scene certainly is an oasis. Eastern Idaho RR switching a long string of cars in the yard at Rupert, ID along the Main Northside Canal that carries water diverted from the Snake River a few miles away at the Minidoka Dam. The canal helps keep a large area at the east end of the Magic Valley around Rupert green during the summer.
