Western Railroad Discussion > Cajon Pass on the Summer SolsticeDate: 06/27/25 09:38 Cajon Pass on the Summer Solstice Author: thatguy I spent last Saturday on the Cajon Pass with a group of friends for our annual Summer Solstice trip.
Photo 1 is a late #3 as it passes Stein's Hill. Photo 2 is westbound UP manifest working it's way down the Palmdale cutoff. Photo 3 is an eastbound BNSF Z climbing the hill between Alray and Hill 582. Photo 5 is another westbound UP manifest train on the Palmdale cutoff Photo 6 is #4 heading for the summit on Main 3. I've been wondering what Mother Nature was doing to reclaim the area of the former tunnels near Alray and your photos show her moving back in, albit slowly.
