BUGX Meets Rock Train in Downtown Santa Barbara
Author: spsniper

Two interesting movements for the coastline, BUGX 1322 catches a ride on the southbound Guadalupe Hauler after serving the Santa Maria Valley Railroad for many years. As it slowly rolled past me and eventually stopped, I figured it would meet an Amtrak, but was pleasantly surprised when this rock train came into view. Right place, right time!

Right place, right time! Great catch and video. Saw a lot of 1322 on the NWP a decade back and when there was that post on the new power being delivered I was wondering if 1322 was still on the railroad. Interesting to know it's headed back to Stockton or Chemurgic or wherever Dieselmotive is sending it.

Longest slot machine train of ballast ive seen.    Must be for something pretty specific, as i believe all those cars will have to be unloaded manually by the excavator.

Nice touch with the American flag on the lead locomotive.

Considering it is 75 years old, appears pretty worn, and if it is operating is quite valuable as a trade in under the Moyers program.

Apparently the owner of BUGX is also a really big railfan, so I really doubt that'll take place anytime soon.

Doesn't flag obstruct view of right of way and left side track . Seems like not a great idea.

It's nice to see a few more freights on the Coast Line Route.
I hope the UP will actually add a couple of thru trains on the Coast soon

You know you're getting old when you realize these engines are 75 years old.

IF the owner was applying for CARB money...  They aren't.
