These 2, EMDX 1608-1609 spent a few weeks in Pueblo Co after being pulled from the TTC/MxV Rail Facility back in April. New info on the performance of these 2 perhaps? To send them back here, well must be something. Ben

Ben Just spotted 1609 at Progress Rail's McCook (LaGrange), IL facility yesterday, Date: 07/05/25 07:33 Re: EMDX 1608 Tier 4 Unit at Denver, CO, 4 July 2025 Author: texchief1 Nice! UP has a hundred of them... NS and CSX also had 10 each. Whatever is being tested in 1608 and 1609 is something additional to initial type testing. UP has 87, never reached 100 -- ask them why they cancelled part of the order. NS cancelled their 10, which became part of the Progress lease fleet. CSX returned theirs to EMD. Progress has had a continuous mod program for their Tier 4s. Sometimes a mod will go into their test or lease fleet to see how things work out. Sometimes a mod will go straight into the UP fleet. I'm not sure if it was 100 or 87 for UP, but either way it shows there were quite a few production units delivered after the 15 or so prototype units had been tested. |
