NS leader on the BNSF last Sunday
Author: oyw

Having intel that an NS GE was leading a westbound BNSF stack train Sunday morning, I was a little disappointed to discover it was out of Summit well before sun up. But given the recent merger news, the days of NS run-throughs on BNSF may be numbered, so I gave chase.

1) My first opportunity for light was from the N. Mt Vernon bridge at CP Foothill in San Bernardino. At 6:41AM, the NS approaches while the eastbound morning Amazon Z-train gets underway.

2) Hustling down to Maple St in Colton, I figured I had about a 10 minute jump on the train but he got delayed in San Bernardino. Finally an hour later, NS 4373 continues its journey to LA.

Over the past several years, NS on the BNSF has become commonplace but as I mentioned above, who knows now how long it will last?

Thanks for looking,

OYW
